Cookie Policy

This page explains which cookies the portal uses and what you decide about them. The English version is the only binding version.

1. Two ways of using the portal

The portal is free because advertising pays for it. Advertising needs cookies, so the free way asks for your agreement. Whoever does not want that can take a premium membership instead, which removes the advertising and the cookies that come with it. You choose once and can change your choice at any time on this page.

2. Strictly necessary cookies

These are set without asking, because the portal cannot work without them:

• session cookie: keeps you signed in and protects forms against cross site request forgery
• language cookie: stores the chosen interface language
• consent cookie: stores which of the two ways you chose

3. Cookies of the free way

These are only set after you agreed:

• invitation cookie: stores who invited you, so that the invitation still counts when you register later
• cookies of the advertising networks: our partner networks set their own cookies when their adverts are loaded. They use them to count views and clicks and to bill the advertisers. The networks are named in the privacy policy.

4. Premium

A premium membership shows no advertising, so no advertising cookies are set. The strictly necessary cookies remain, because signing in is not possible without them.

5. Local storage

The installable app version keeps static files such as stylesheets, scripts and images on the device so that it starts faster. Quiz and tournament pages are never kept, because their timing is measured on the server. Answers given during a quiz are stored on the device until they reach the server, so that a lost connection does not cost the run.

6. Control

Cookies can be deleted and blocked in the browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies makes signing in impossible. Your choice between the two ways can be changed here at any time.
